On behalf of the African Agricultural Technology Foundation (AATF) and the Government of Rwanda, we are delighted to welcome you to the second edition of the African Conference on Agricultural Technologies (ACAT), taking place from 9-12 June 2025 at the Kigali Convention Centre in Kigali, Rwanda. Under the theme “NextGen Ag-Tech Solutions for Africa’s Farmers,” this conference promises to be a transformative platform for structured dialogue, innovation, and consensus-building on game-changing agricultural technologies. Visa Information

Rwanda is known for its welcoming visa policies, making it easy for international visitors to attend ACAT 2025. Here’s what you need to know:

Visa-Free Entry

Citizens of all African Union (AU) member states, Francophonie countries and those in the common wealth as well as nationals from select countries, can enter Rwanda visa-free for up to 30 days. Upon arrival, you’ll receive an entry stamp at no cost. Check the full list of visa-exempt countries on the Rwanda Directorate General of Immigration and Emigration website; https://www.migration.gov.rw/visa

Visa on Arrival

All nationalities can receive visa on arrival with a passport valid not less than 6 months. The rest not eligible for visa-free entry can obtain a visa on arrival at Kigali International Airport or land borders at the cost is of USD 50 for a single-entry tourist visa valid for 30 days.

Requirements: A valid passport (with at least 6 months validity) and proof of accommodation or an invitation letter (e.g., your ACAT 2025 registration confirmation).

Invitation Letter

Upon registration, ACAT 2025 participants will receive an official invitation letter via email. This can be used to support your visa application or entry process if required.

Travel Insurance:

You are advised to purchase travel insurance to mitigate against travel-related risks. AATF shall not provide any travel insurance and is not liable for any medical expenses, accidents, death, trip cancellation, lost luggage, and other losses incurred while travelling.

By Air

Kigali International Airport (KGL) is Rwanda’s main gateway, located just 5 km from the Kigali Convention Centre (approximately 10-15 minutes by car).

Major airlines serving KGL include RwandAir, Ethiopian Airlines, Kenya Airways, Qatar Airways, and Turkish Airlines.

Taxis and airport shuttles are readily available upon arrival.

Local Transportation

Kigali offers safe and affordable transport options:

Taxis: Widely available; negotiate fares in advance (approx. RWF 25,000-40,000 within the city).

Moto-taxis: Motorcycle taxis are a quick, budget-friendly option (RWF 500-2,000).

Public Buses: Clean and reliable, with fares starting at RWF 250. However, they take long to arrive and you can find them outside the airport. You will be guaranteed smooth travels within and outside the city.

By Land

Rwanda shares borders with Uganda, Tanzania, Burundi, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. Cross-border bus services (e.g., Jaguar, Trinity, or Volcano) connect Kigali to neighboring capitals like Kampala, Dar es Salaam, and Gisenyi.

Venue

This state-of-the-art facility is a world-class venue, conveniently located near hotels, restaurants, and key attractions. It features modern conference halls, exhibition spaces, and excellent amenities to support ACAT 2025’s dynamic program.

Getting to the Venue

From Kigali International Airport: 10-15 minutes by taxi (approx. RWF 25,000).

From the city center: 5-10 minutes by taxi

Weather

June is part of Rwanda’s dry season, with pleasant temperatures averaging 20-27°C (68-80°F). Light clothing and a jacket for cooler evenings are recommended.

Stay Connected

Wi-Fi: Free high-speed Wi-Fi will be available at the Kigali Convention Centre. SIM Cards: Purchase local SIMs (MTN or Airtel) at the airport or city shops for affordable data (approx. RWF 1,000-5,000). Social Media: Share your ACAT 2025 experience using #ACAT2025.

Currency and exchange

Visa, MasterCard and American Express are widely accepted by major hotels and outlets. One can change foreign currency at the hotel or at foreign exchange bureaus. You may check with the hotel concierge for recommended agents.

Voltage: 220-240 Volts (U.S./Canada are 110-120 Volts)

The 3-rectangular pin UK plug adapter (BS-1363) is commonly used for electrical appliances.

Please remember to pack a travel adapter in case your laptop/mobile phone chargers are not compatible.
