Prof. Lateef Oladimeji Sanni

President, International Society for Tropical Root Crops (ISTRC)

Prof. Lateef Oladimeji Sanni is the President of International Society for Tropical Root Crops (ISTRC). He is a highly accomplished academic and researcher in the field of Food Science and Technology. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree with Second Class Upper Division from the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta in 1990, followed by a Master's and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) Degrees in Food Technology from the University of Ibadan in 1993 and 1999, respectively. He has had a long and distinguished career at the University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, starting as an Assistant Lecturer in 1993 and eventually becoming a Professor of Food Science and Technology in 2008. Prof. Sanni has made significant contributions to his field, with 72 Technical Journal articles, 25 books, and 26 conference proceedings to his name. He has held various leadership positions, including being the Head of Department of Food Science and Technology and Director of A.G. Leventis Memorial Centre for Learning. He has also been actively involved in research projects and organizations, such as serving as Country Manager for Nigeria in the Cassava: Adding Value for Africa project and as the National President of the Nigerian Institute of Food Science and Technology. His achievements have been recognized with awards, including the CGIAR Award Regional Technology Development in Sub Saharan Africa and the Outstanding Award for Academic Accomplishment. Additionally, he has played key roles in various academic and research committees and editorial boards, further establishing his expertise and influence in the field of Food Science and Technology.
