Amath Pathé Sene
Pathé is an Agricultural Engineer and Climate and Environment Expert with over 18 years of experience in agriculture, green finance, agri-value chain development, climate change, and sustainable resource management. His expertise spans rural development, food security, infrastructure, and de-risking public and private investments in sustainable agriculture. He has held technical, managerial, and leadership roles across Africa, South America, Central Asia, and Europe.
Before joining AGRF, Pathé served as IFAD’s Lead Regional Environment and Climate Specialist for West and Central Africa, Director of the IFAD Abidjan sub-regional office, and Country Director for Côte d’Ivoire, Niger, and Liberia. Previously, he was a Policy Specialist at UNDP’s Global Policy Centre in Brazil and a Regional Program Advisor at UNEP and UNDP in Kenya, supporting African countries in integrating poverty, environment, and gender objectives into national policies. His earlier roles include Program Officer at UNDP Mauritania, food security program manager in Afghanistan, consultant for the EU in France, and agricultural researcher in Senegal.
Pathé holds an MSc and postgraduate degree in Rural Societies, Territories, Sustainable Development, and Natural Resources Management from Institut Agronomique Méditerranéen de Montpellier (France), an MSc in Agricultural Engineering from Ecole Nationale d’Agriculture de Meknès (Morocco), and an MSc in Agribusiness, Entrepreneurship, and Gender from the Centre for International Agricultural Development Cooperation (Israel). Fluent in French, English, Portuguese, Wolof, and Serer, he is married and a proud father of three.
