Anthony Muriithi

Agriculture Attache, Mission of Kenya to FAO

Anthony Gikandi Muriithi has more than 30 years of professional experience in the Kenyan agricultural sector. He is currently the Agriculture Attache and Alternate Permanent Representative to the UNRBAs in Kenya Mission, Rome, Italy. Prior to this he served as the Director General of The Agriculture and Food Authority, Kenya. He has a master’s degree in Agricultural Economics majoring in Production Economics and Agriculture Policy.

Mr. Anthony Gikandi Muriithi also has strong knowledge in strategy and policy formulation and in monitoring and evaluation as relates to the Crops Sector. He is a member of several organisations, including the International Association of Agricultural Economists, the African Association of Agricultural Economics, and the Kenya Society of Agricultural Professionals. He has previously served as the Vice Chair of the German Tea Association, the International Cotton Researchers Association and Committee member of the Tea Association of USA.

He is the Vice Chair of the Committee on World Food Security (CFS) and was the Rapporteur of the CFS Policy recommendations on Strengthening Collection and Use of Food Security and Nutrition Data Process 2023. He has previously served as a  Bureau Member of the Committee of Agriculture (COAG) of the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
