Dr. Daniel Karanja

Deputy Director, Research and Innovation CABI.

Dr. Daniel Karanja is the Deputy Director for Research and Innovation at CABI Africa Regional Centre. At CABI, Dr Karanja is responsible for overseeing the management of Research and Innovation under International Development initiatives across Africa. This includes supporting the development, implementation and growth of CABI’s International Development strategic vision in the continent.  In addition, Dr. Karanja is responsible for the implementation of strategies to strengthen partners relationships, improve business practices and drive profitable growth at CABI Africa.

Dr. Karanja is a Plant Pathologist with over 20 years’ experience in applied research including cross cutting issues related to social and economic diffusion. His rich experience has contributed significantly to the utilisation of scientific and technical agricultural knowledge particularly by women and youth, to enhance resilience, boost household incomes and enhance nutrition security in developing countries.

Dr. Karanja holds a PhD in Agriculture from the University of Reading UK, MPhil in Plant Pathology from Moi University and BSc from Jomo Kenya University of Agriculture and Techno (JKUAT).
