Lucy Komen

Ag. CEO/Registrar of the Warehouse Receipt System Council (WRSC)

Lucy Komen is the current Ag. CEO/Registrar of the Warehouse Receipt System Council (WRSC). She devotes most of her time in ensuring that farmers are able to access quality, certified storage facilities in a bid to reduce post-harvest losses. Farmers’ deposits under WRS can accord them access to financial facilities using the warehouse receipt as collateral in addition to market access for the stored commodity. Her vision is to see a structured agriculture commodity trade. Lucy is passionate about food security, food safety and using environment friendly pesticides in farming. She attended a program dubbed Making Agriculture Work for food and nutrition security offered by WCDI, Wageningen, and believes that agriculture in Africa can work.

She is also the lead consultant for Luberts Constancy, where she advocates for thinking strategy, and thinking fresh. With over 27 years extensive experience in working with both, the Government and Private sectors, locally and internationally, she has gained good knowledge of Government Policies especially in the agricultural sector. She has also worked and consulted in the chemical industry, specific to products registration, and market dynamics and use cases for organic pesticides. When is come to business, she is a good negotiator.

A proud mother of four, she has an MBA in Strategic Management and Bachelor of Business Administration from Egerton University. In her earlier years she attained a Diploma in Information Technology from Algonquin College, Canada. Lucy believes in continuous improvement and has over the years undertaken programs towards the course. Currently she is undertaking an Advanced Leadership Program with the African Management Institute.

She of course, l work and no play, she also enjoys travelling, connecting with new people, cooking, and of course tasting food from all cultures.
